How very original. You must be related to Boring. Could you lend him some of your crayons please.

hey erik nice to meet you. nice website.
but, seriously dude, you have to find a way to stop certain snitches who has nothing better to do other than insulting other members, making them upset, then when we insult them back (naturally) they report us to the moderators. moderators dont know what is going on and they side with the snitches. I've been a member for some time and I post in forums regularly and dont insult anybody unless I get attacked. then i put them into place.
But, most importantly i never snitch. what kind of person snitches anyway?
The kind of person who is no longer a child and has became an adult.
Snitching is a kids/child mentality.
If you are an adult and have a problem you go and talk to people who can help resolve the issue.
I pray you change your mind set about the term snitching because that mind set can get someone killed.
Even though what I am saying is true. I understand why you think that snitching is wrong. I use to be with that same mind set as well.
Until my father told me a story which happened to my grandmother. Which was his mom.
My grandmother worked at a sugar mill.
Now in a sugar mill they have conveyor belts. They have sugar cane traveling on the converyor belts all the way to a machine which than grinds up the sugar cane extracting all the sugar from the cane.
Now while the cane travels on the converyor belt or assembly line. They have people on the side of the assembly line making sure that not alot of sugar cane goes inside of the machine. Bascially the machine can only handle a couple of sugar cane sticks at a time. If to many come in at 1 time than it can cause the machine to jam up, freeze, or break etc.
Now the people who work the assembly makes sure only a couple of sticks go throw at a time. My grandmother worked on that line. An you have to image during sugar cane season you might have hundreds of thousands of sugar cane sticks going through that assembly line. They have hundreds of people working on that assembly line 24 hour shifts. They have to have someone on the assembly line around the clock during sugar cane season.
An the machine is huge. Some of the bolts on that machine are 3 times the size of a 5 gallon bucket.
Now you can just picture that even though they have alot of people on an assembly line trying to make sure not a bunch of sugar cane goes into the machine all at the same time. Inevitably the machine may jam up. You can't control how many sugar canes are going to come at one time. An it may be to many for even the workers to take down for example. So even though they try to reduce the chance of the machine jamming up. Inevitably the machine will jam up a few times during the course of 6 months or so. Which is usually how long cane season is I believe.
Now once the machine is jammed up they have a procedure. They have to shut down the machine and the mill. An they have to have some specialist come and look at the machine get it unjammed and make sure there was no damage done to the machine etc. The process can take up to 20 mins to even days depending on how bad the jam is. If something broke than they have to wait till the parts come in to fix it might take hours or days you just never know.
However, the whole time this procedure is happening orders are getting backed up. You can imagine even though the sugar cane machine and assembly line is down. The sugar cane trucks are still delivering more cane to the mill. A mountain of sugar cane is being stacked up waiting to be processed while the machine is down.
Now who does this look bad on? Well the person this looks bad on is the manager!
The assembly line people are paid to try and reduce the chances of the machine jamming. The managers job is to make sure the assembly line people are doing there job and to make sure the machine/mill never stops running. As soon as it stops running money is getting lost.
If the machine is down all the people on the line are just standing there getting money for free for example.
Now why am I telling you this? What does this have to do with Snitching?
Well you are about to find out.
There was a manager who decided he wasn't going to follow the procedures. When the machine jammed up. He was going to have the employees on the assembly line stick there hand inside of the machine and pull out the sugar cane which was jamming the machine.
That is what he wanted them to do. He also threatened to fire them if they didn't.
Now this machine is running like a 100 miles per hour. It is moving fast. When a sugar cane goes into the machine. It extracts so much juice from the sugar cane that by the time the sugar cane comes out the other side there is nothing left but dust.
Its like a baseball bat going in the front side and sand coming at the back side.
An the teeth on this machine are like a sharks teeth. There is a top layer than the bottom layer. When the 2 layers come together they fit perfectly leaving no space.
It takes 4 cranks to move parts of the machine. Like the top layer of teeth needs 4 cranks to pick it up. An the bottom section took 4 cranks as well.
Now tell me what are you going to do? The manager wants you to stick your hand inside of this machine to unjamm sugar cane. An the machine is not off. So as soon as it becomes unjammed you will have to make sure you are fast enough to get your hand out of the way because if you don't it will grab on to your hand and pull you in.
It will extract your blood just like it extracts the sugar from the cane. Nothing will be left of you but dust.
Rememeber you don't believe in snitching. Would you get fired? Well my grandmother could not afford to get fired. She was the only source of income for her family. She had 2 kids. If she got fired her kids would of starved. That is how tight money was back than.
My grandfather, he was a veteran and than he became a police officer. He got injured in the line of duty. Which caused him to get disabled. He wasn't paralyzed or anything but he was disabled. He did get some disability but it was not enough. They depended on my grandmothers check. I'll put it that way.
Now I'll wait for your response on what you would do in the situation where someone is telling you to endanger your life or get fired which may result in you losing your house or not having money to feed your kids.
Technically speaking you can't get fired for not listening to your boss if he is asking you to do something unreasonable. Which can endanger your life. You techincally can't get fired like that.
However, my grandmother didn't go to school. During that time school was not considered important. Some kids went to school and other kids didn't. My grandmother didn't have an education. She didn't know. She thought she would get fired and she knew she needed the job. It was hard on women during that time. They couldn't vote in the US etc. Most of the jobs which were offered were given out to men. Since they didn't take alot of value to women.
Now if your wondering what my grandmother did I will tell you.
My grandmother ended up sticking her hand in that machine. She didn't know what esle to do so that is what she did. What ended up happening next was.
When she pulled the cane the machine got unjammed and started running. The machine came down and lucky enough for my grandmother. The machine came down and hit a cane and her hand.
If you can imagine the top jaw coming down while she is pulling her hand out. It scarred the top of her hand. However, it caught the cane and pulled the cane in. When she went home that night her hand was all scared up.
My grandfather asked what happen. An when he heard the story he went nuts. He told her never to stick her hand in that machine ever again. My grandfather was edcuated so he was pretty smart. He told my grandmother that her manager can't fire her and even if he trys to that is fine get fired.
He also said he was going to the sugar mill the next day.
Now my father as you can imagine was a little kid at the time and he is telling me this story as a grown man.
An the next day my father did go to school and my grandfather was the one who drove him to school. He was disabled of course but he could still move around a little bit etc. He just couldn't do alot. Well before dropping my father off to school. His father which is my grandfather went to the sugar mill. He saw the manager in the parking lot.
He got out of the car and told the manager if he ever tells his wife to stick her hand in that machine again. He would kill him. My grandfather than told the manager that even though he is disabled. he was still strong enough to kill him and if he had too. He would buy a gun to make sure he dies. My grandfather served the military honorably. He did get honorably discharged and he did have several medals for his service. He also became a police officer so yeah he didn't mess around. He was dead serious he would of killed that man.
After he told the manager that in the parking lot. He than went to the office to filed a report on the manage as well all the same day. My grandfather was upset. He filed a report with the people of the sugar mill which was kind of funny because he didn't work their. He didn't care he filed all kinds of reports that day. Than he had my grandmother go over there to file reports. Oh yeah he was serious.
My father said they stayed there half the day and he was happy because he didn't have to go to school that day. They didn't drop him off they had him there the whole time. He was just watching.
About a few weeks after that incident. The same manager asked another employee to stick there hand in the machine or get fired. An well this time the employee was not fast enough. They stuck there hand in there and the machine caught there hand. It pulled them in and they got killed.
When the police came. The manager told the police he never told the employee's to stick there hand in the machine. He told the officer that he was waiting for the specialist to arive following procedure.
He told the police the employee got impatient waiting on the specialist and took it upon himself to stick his hand inside the machine against his orders. Yep that is what he said bascially lieing to the officer. He said he never gave the employee that order.
Now here is the tricky part. Some of the employee's said they heard him say the order and some of the other employee's said he never said that order.
When you think about it there is 100's of people on this converyor belt. So if he tells the person by the machine to do it only a few people around that section will hear the order. The other people on the other side of the assembly line might not ever heard that order because they are to far away.
So what ended up happening was they had to do an investigation. To see if he did say it or didn't say it.
Some employee's say he did some say he didn't who is right or who is wrong?
Investigation was done. In the investiation they found 9 complains against this man.
When they went to court. The Defensive attorneys said The manager never gave such an order. An the reason the 9 people filed complants on him was because they were trying to get back at him.
He agrued that those 9 people were lazy employee's. He said he would often tell them to do there job because they would slack off and not do there job.
He said the reason they filed complaints were purely based on trying to get revenge on him.
He was saying in lay-mens terms that when he told them to get to work and stop slacking off. They would get upset with him and file a complaint which said he order them to put there hand in the machine bascially trying to get him in trouble out of spite.
That is what his defensive team said.
The prosecution tore them apart. It was funny how they did it.
The prosecution said there are 9 complaints on you. However, if you digg further into those complaints you will see.
Only 8 of the complaints were filed by employee's lol.
1 complaint was filed by a non-employee lol.
For the same reason.
The prosecution said if the reason they are complaining is out of spite for you getting on to them at work. Than how do you explain the guy who filed who is not even an employee?
He has no reason to have spite because he doesn't work here. How can you get on to him for slacking off if he is not even here. lol
The jury found him guilty. They sentenced him to life in prison. LIFE!
They said he did not follow procedure and miss used the power of his office which resulted in the death of an employee.
If no one would of complained or snitched as you say. That man would of gotten away with murder. It is as simple as that.
My father said don't ever think that about snitching again. It is not wrong to tell on someone. The reason you tell is to protect yourself when you are not capable of doing it on your own.
My grandmother could not question the boss because she did not have the authority too. What could she have done? She was a lady. she could not fight the manager. She was scared of getting fired. Women didn't have alot of jobs back than tough for them to find jobs.
In the begin she didn't tell ended up scarring up her hand. It stayed scarred the rest of her life in fact. It could of been worse she could of lost her life. People didn't sue other people alot back than. They couldn't afford getting a lawyer to even sue anybody. Eventually she did tell. An my grandfather told. They helped stop that man from getting away with murder. Had they not told the situation might of happen against to another person.
It is a true story.
An ever since that story I changed my mind set about the term snitching.
When you are in trouble you call the cops do you not?
You are snitching on the criminals who are attacking you. Bascially that is what you are doing. Why are you doing that? To protect yourself. An why would you need protection? because maybe you are scared or maybe you don't have the means to protect yourself.

Wow! You must have spent the whole evening putting that together. Such a shame it is wasted on him.
He is actually the person who has been very rude and obscene to others so he has nothing to report anyway. I'll not report him. I would rather deal with him myself if he does it again.

That was a really good story. I read every word. In most workplaces things have progressed but the world is still full of those who take shortcuts regardless of the risks (especially when the risk is to others). And I agree, terms like "stitching, "tattling," or "ratting" are inventions of wrongdoers to allow them to continue without fear of repercussions. Unfortunately, such terms do work much of the time.

I read the story and thought it was great, but life threating issues are very different than someone getting upset over something you said over the internet and reporting them. "Snitching" to me would be like if someone called the cops on me for smoking weed in my house. Im not hurting anyone and what I do in my house is my buisness. The guy who the story was for prolly is rude and more than likley a troll, but hey this is the internet its full of them. Very much like people smoking weed, report it if you want its not going to stop it.
lol. Legalze victimless crimes.

Great story X. Sounds like what we all had to do years ago before Health and Safety ruled. God Bless.
Health & Safety in the UK has gone crazy now. It went from one extreme to the other. However, they don't care about the safety of anyone walking home at night in total darkness when the street lights go off at midnight.

X-Player; Mr Boring has an entire thread on it; I'm sure Eric's impressed http://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/chesscom-is-full-of-snitches

It is ok. Like I said in the beginning of the story. I once thought the same way about people who snitch.
It took a story and seeing the scarrs on my grandmothers hand to make me realize the error in my own logic. It helped me change my mind and point of view.
As people get older and they hear storys, experince new things, or even see different things. They begin to change and grow.
I have friends who use to like to smoke and do drugs. They would go to the park in the middle of the night. They thought it was fun and cool. They never thought about any of the consequences of there actions.
My one friend ended up doing one drug which ended up messing them up.
They told me the drug dealer he got it from cut the drug he used with some bad stuff which ended up making him go to the emergency room.
Lucky enough for me. I never got hooked on any drugs. However, he ended up getting messed up which now he has to take medication for.
He has to take some vitamins now because his body can no longer produce the vitamins his body needs.
An its funny because people do change.
Now most of them all have kids now. lol
Yeah they don't like telling those wild smoking/drug storys in the middle of the park to there kids.
Yep they have changed. They seen the light and the error in there ways. Trying to be better people now.
So I think there is hope for mylifeisveryboring. He will change eventually.
Of course we probably will not seen it because we live over the interenet. However, he will remember and see it.
An that is all that matters.

You have streetlights that go off at midnight in the UK? Consider yourselves lucky, half the lights in my city don't work, and the highway system is literally falling apart most of the time.. Just a couple of weeks ago some holes appeared on one of the busiest bridges over one of the busiest roads in the city...
For me, lag is the main problem with chess.com. It makes blitz unviable. It's been getting worse over the last year. I play more and more at playchess.com. It's a clunky site BUT....lag is not a problem there.
