Is Chess.com getting more competitive?

Are you saying that there are more cheaters? Well, yes that happens. I versed a cheat once.

ratings here are like fiat currency
Why is it like fiat currency?
there is no base line standard and ratings here are not based upon anything tangible and the system they use is akin to the fed playing with interest rates (how time between games factors into ratings -- very silly)
ratings are basically meaningless here
I say it is worthy having a rating because high rated players need a challenge so having a high rating would mean high rated opponents!

Well, I am new to the site (not to chess!), and it seems like a very comfortable thing to get into (I can tell it's only overwhelming at first!) As for the question, it seems liek it can, depending on what kind of person you are and what rank you're at. If this is all for fun, no, then it's not competitive. Rankings just seem like veteran badges, since you get better when you play more, right? If you feel like you're halfway to being a Grandmaster and want to have that top spot, every time you play it's a test of your abilities. If you are one of the best, then yes, it is getting kore competitive. If you are average, there really isn't a difference. I want to be competitive but at the same time have fun, so it may at times and at others will be all but laughs. Pictures always depict old men on a fishing boat having a good time around a chessboard. Chess is fun, but rarely are you laughing and having the best of your life unless you make it that way.

Guys, do you think chess.com is getting more competitive over the years? Did you know that chessnetwork's bullet rating was 4200? Now, his rating is low 2000's. Even other GM's have had ratings of 2900 but now..... What do you think? Is chess.com getting more competitive? It is not a bad thing, it is good because we get a challenge.
Obviously I myself have experienced chess.com becoming more and more competitive over the years. There are some quality players on this website.

But what is that high rating based on... It may have something to do with skill, but you could theoretically only play people rated 400 points below you so you are playing at a 1400 level but your rating is around 1800-1900 also the baseline is completely arbitrary.
