After realizing he was not going to accept the draw offer, i went for broke hoping he would blunder into a mate.

Just play it out until you reach the 50 move rule and hit the draw button. Unless he thought he saw something he could do about it, yes it is bad sportsmanship.

Ahh, I did not know the 50 move rule applied to live chess as well.  I thought it was just a OTB tournament rule, lol.

Well then I am an idiot.  I certainly had enough time to insta-move my rook 50 times.  

Still a bit douchy though.

Did you click the offer draw button after move 50 ?

The system should have given an instant draw...threefold repetition.

To pour salt on the wound, after quickly going over the game, I see that I missed a fork on move 14.  

Sigh..

There was a 3-move repition so you could have claimed a draw before the 50 move rule.
