Interestingly I flagged an opponent in a daily game in which I was playing poorly and behind and yet I was congratulated thus...

Good job using the clock as a weapon and keeping the pressure on your opponent.

Is this a display of poor ethics by a programmed ai bot [coach ] ?

Or am I at fault for intentionally "rushing" my move to flag my opponent as my [coach] suggests ?

How do I get access to the move timestamps to assuage or prove my guilt in this matter ?

No it's not. It's a part of the game. Deal with it.

In my opinion, no.

No, if you've spent too much time on previous moves, you DESERVERS to lose the game. Let's say in a 5 min game, if A has 2 min left and B has 10 sec left, even if B has a winning position, it means B's 5 min thinking out performs A's 3 min, I don't see any reason A should simply resign and let B win

What is flagging .. .

How do you flag an opponent?

Avatar of ChessMasteryOfficial

If a player runs out of time, it means they haven't managed their time well, which is a legitimate reason to lose.

Who cares. You win

No. It is part of the game.

I have flagged people and gotten flagged many times. Personally, I do not think it is unethical, but what are your opinions and the reasons? Do you think it is okay for a person to win via flagging?

Yes. It's part of the game.

Too bad. That's life--deal with it!

wats flagging?

Avatar of bramjam55

In chess you start with 8 pawns, 8 pieces and 1 clock.

Structure your pawns, develop your pieces, manage your clock.

How do you flag an opponent?

Avatar of aarongull

No, that why time is a part of the game.

Avatar of mikejett00

The best explanation I've seen to justify flagging is that what your opponent has done is traded their time for a better position. Did they allot enough time to finish it? It's not your problem.

There’s nothing wrong with it. Just bear in mind that short time limits distort play. An inferior player from the standpoint of chess skill can defeat a superior player by playing fast and defensively.
I play Daily or at least 30 minutes Rapid for just this reason, to eliminate a time factor and compete on chess skill only.
