Is it easier to play chess online?

I find online easier. For one I am more used to 2D-boards. In addition, most OTB weekend tournaments start terribly early. So I have often found myself regretting to have entered the trournament as I was too tired to play.

A big reason I think online is easier is because you can choose to play when you feel like it. Whatever time of day. Whatever day of the week. Pick a time you're feeling motivated and energetic.
But at a tournament, you wake up, and start playing. And after the first few hours 1 game is over, and it doesn't matter how you feel, you've still got many more hours to play that day. Then you wake up and do it again.
Online you can be sure you're at 100%. At an OTB tournament you can be far below that.
that's true

I have a problem with the premise of the puzzles and lessons. As helpful as the lessons could be, there is a weird discrepancy between the lesson and the setup. For example, to teach you about forks, they give you a setup where there is a rook to destroy the fork, but they force you through the lesson by meaninglessly sacrificing a queen before they allow you to use the fork move. It's downright sloppy and, dare I say, lazy. Maybe it's just me. I never had anyone to play chess with after my initial childhood love of playing with my father and gave it up for decades until the internet came along. There is all the beauty and misery of humanity in such a brilliant game as chess.

Even though I play more online playing OTB is more fun and exciting than online. Maybe when quarantine restrictions are loosened a little I could play OTB because with dual citizenship there are couple loopholes.

I agree. I have just played two USCF tournaments and one NWC tournament, and I got the same nervousness as I did for OTB games. I guess these rated tournaments just make me nervous.

Oh, allright. I think the pressure is higher in real live tournament, online chess is much easier, no pressure, no spectators, because the spectators are online too, you can not feel the heat of the game.
