Is it worth trying to discuss Chess on here anymore?

Excellent thoughts batgirl.However, trolling is not limited to only posting within a thread, as many threads are created with titles and/or opening statements that are clearly designed to cause discord, to invite trolls, and when that happens the OP cries troll, to further the main objective .. High post count, this is all that matters to these trolls. It has been my experience that actual trolls are the first the cry troll, and they cry the loudest and most often.

  I just have a minor disagreement with batgirl.  In this case, it is an individual issue.  Half this site---12 forums are devoted to chess. Nobody else seems to have a problem finding a place to discuss chess related material except Vlad.

to call someone a troll is to by definition post provocatively...

that is why I much prefer the thought that trolling is a Behavior like lying.

there are those that sometimes exaggerate ; those that do so in little good hearted moments (white lies)

and despicable scoundrels that don't say a single truthful thing in years of talking and use their skill in the most manipulative way possible.

In truth; most anyone that Over-reacts is prolly guilty at least of a little of trolling.

so lets chillax and how much More is there to say about this anyways? For Sure, soon more provocative voices can get it all worked up.

you will always have that "if you don't want to get upset, than don't read" argument , too.

#3.  should be a renewed personally conviction to not Feed trolls. meaning More than just not to post against obvious trolls.  meaning to not allow them to get you upset.

I don't mind people de-railing a thread, I can't say why.  I mean in normal conversation we don't always stick to a single topic and the conversation often goes off on a tangent. Its always possible to bring the thread back on topic for those that are interested.

  This is a case in which I really don't think Vlad & 2Q actually knows how the site works. Case in point. They both commented on not turning off chat, which the site advises everyone to do if your opponent starts to get nasty with comments. They have both commented that they don't block, which the site advises everyone to do if members continually derail their threads. Now we have a thread entitled "Enough Is Enough". They want Staff to clean up "off-topic". THEY, in all the're wisdom--3 months, want things changed that the site has administered for 10 yrs now. THEY, in all the're wisdom--who have never moderated any social media site. Your right, "Enough Is Enough". We should all stop giving these 2 trolls all the attention they crave.

I feel the same way. . . it's just the extremes that need to be reeled in.
