Is it possible to be better OTB chess than online?

I am sorry but that is typical patzer level opinion - mouse skills and internet connection - just typical excuse of someone who never plays blitz online or he is bad at it. - You there noo i did not lost you cheated with time or you did impossible move with the mouse... Oh you just move pieces, fast with mouse etc you have no chess skills ... I will smash you OTB rofl..

The slower the time, the better I play, so I tend to do better at USCF 30 min. or more games than blitz, etc. here.

Great comment. Agree with everything. Online chess often results in lazy and uninspired chess.

lol, you're calling me a patzer? You're a 1700 FIDE, bruv. Stand down. I'd wipe you off the board without even a second thought in an OTB tournament. You may have forgotten this, but I am a 2100. You honestly think you'd stand a chance? Also, the real patzer here is you, for thinking  blitz is actually relevant. You don't have enough time to think, not enough time to analyze, not enough time to come up with firm ideas. You just throw out garbage on intuition and hope it works. I've played enough blitz to know that. You can have as much ego as you like, but at the end of the day, I'm simply stronger than you are. So many dumb, weak players who think that blitz is actually relevant to skill, dear god. Get your head out of your arse, for real.

Some people improve at chess, but don't play much OTB - so their OTB rating may be irrelevant. The 1700 may actually be worth 1950. 

Some other people are very proud of their past accomplishments, but as they stopped playing competitively they get rusty - and an 2100 may actually be worth only 1948 in practice...

not me, at least. I play generally 2 regular rated tournaments a month, 6 regular and quick. I've been over 2000 for nearly a year, and I've play more than enough tournaments to prove that I am not any less than an expert. 

Allowing and adjusting for volume of games, I reckon I'm 5 to 10% better in real life because I don't believe I've ever played an OTB cheat !

I wasn't knowingly showing disrespect. I haven't read most of this thread and so wasn't replying to anyone in particular. My FIDE is just higher than my chess.com rating, but I don't regard that as significant one way or the other. (Edit: I won't reply to the player above  because he was provoked by the well known sh*t stirrer with the Belgian flag)

You're always causing trouble and pretending to be the guardian of forum sanctity. A real hypocrite, and it's you who disgust me.

Apart from all the usual platitudes, there's something that should be borne in mind, which is that the difference between otb with clock, over maybe 2 hours each for the game, and 3-day online is such that, at a normal to fast rate of playing of, say, 3 moves every two days, then after thirty moves into the game, when it may just be getting really difficult if it's well played by both sides, probably a couple of weeks have elapsed. At the full limit of three days per move, 6 months have passed.

It isn't easy to keep in mind the ideas one has over two weeks, let alone six months. If several or many other games are played, this makes it much harder. Also one is likely to hit a patch of bad form. So it's possible to be stronger otb than in 3-day.

Well. Actually I have to apologise. I realise I got the wrong end of the stick. I took offence where none was intended and I gave offence where I shouldn't have. I pride myself on being a gentleman on the internet and try to treat people as if they were right in front of me. Once again I'm sorry.

 It's my provisional rating had winning +10 against 1930 but gave away the game , and drew with lower rated 'cuz i was late almost an hour. I might be underrated and you most likely OVERRATED. .You are 2100 USCF? What is this 1850 FIDE? I don't believe in you. Typical overrated american with big ego. Come here and your 2100 rating will vanish. We Russians/Bulgarians/ are stronger than most. And what you call "classic" there with your silly club like 45+5 time controls, stand no chance in 90+30 serious fide rated tournaments. You are a higher rated but still a patzer live with it.

When you go outside and want to play a game of chess with somebody you don't play 3 hours game, baga. You play blitz. And you will be crushed. ~End of story.

I don't play OTB much.rather inactive player.I struggle looking at the board n finding stuff after playing online alone
