Is it realistic?

I think if it was possible people would not go back only forward in time.

get the next lotto numbers and win a billion dollars sound a like a plan to me.

Now I don't know how to get my time machine to 85 miles per hour since you are only allowed to drive 81 miles per hour on the danish highway.

look at it this way, .....if time travel was possible, dont you think people from the future would come popping in randomly right now? Time is an incomprehensible thing. Time is not an object, it is not a theory, it has no beginning, no end, time is the representation of change. Change in age, change in appearance, but mostly change in age. There is no connection between time and science that can allow us to bend it to our wim.

I thought science said you could relatively slow ageing / perception of time by going near the speed of light or if space was very bent e.g. black hole stuff.  Relative to non-near the speed of light existence you would age more slowly, and in effect travel forward in time.

"Is it realistic?"

Adrian: Einstein flunked out of school, twice.

Paulie: Is that so?

Adrian: Yeah. Beethoven was deaf. Helen Keller was blind. I think Rocky's got a good chance.

Vulpesvictor

Yeahhh errrhhhh.... Thanks for that, there's coffee all over the screen now :@

Plus also... My designs for the contraption you requested... also ruined. :(

Enter my space ship theory:

Observe the common extraterrestrial: Pale, transparent skin (never seen sunlight), no iris (VERY sensitive to light), no ears (not nescessary when you always wear headphones), malnutritioned/signs of unhealthy lifestyle (diet coke, potato chips, too many cigarettes etc.), 3 not 5 fingers (left and right mousebutton plus control finger)

What I'm suggesting here is that the 'flying saucer' is in fact a time travel device and the spaceman is in fact the future of mankind incarnated. I speculate they're here to figure out what the %¤#%#" went wrong...

I spent almost all this year in 8th grade science class learning about space, and i looove science, dont mean to sound geeky. :p

1. blackholes form when a STAR collapses within itself, and doesnt explode in supernova. that has nothing to do with time

2.  the speed of light (5000 or so mph) is the speed of light, its just a speed, an object moveing near or more than that speed cant "warp" time or whatever, thats science fiction.

3. and again, if time travel was possible, people would come popping out of no where saying they're from the future.

4. I promise you I am not a forum troll, i just really wanted to say this stuff cuz since its stuff i learned in school, im absolutely sure i know what I'm talking about, plus its good review. lol

1) He probably meant 'worm holes', that's a different story all together.

2) it's not merely 'a speed', it is in fact connected with certain transitional aspects concidering lower velocities 'carry' easier (i.e. massless particles are the only particles that will travel this fast as far as the geeks over at NASA knows) thus; in order for any human to travel this fast, he/she would simply have to dissolve into massless particles, otherwise it wouldn't work out all too well. This raises a lot of questions as to halflife/natural breakdown of cell tissue, doesn't it?

By the way: The numeric value you're looking for is in fact a whole lot closer to 186,000 miles. PER SECOND!

3) I allready told yo what a UFO really is! :D
Who's to say time travellers wouldn't keep it a secret? Being trapped in an asylum isn't constructive as far as 'mission' goes, also... Interference is interaction = change of events. Not a good idea to talk too much entirely, I'd suspect. ;)

4) I can understand why these little philosophical issues aren't on your schedule in 8th grade, but you might want to realize this yourself also. Knowledge is simply limited to the tutors abilities. :)

ilikeflags

this thread is blowing my mind on so many levels and i wasn't even really talking about myself travelling through time!

Beg your pardon? Is this some kinda zen haiku again?

Vulpesvictor

Strange coincidence; I'm from the past... Oh well, nice to meet you :)

giratina999

muons?!?!

i think when i likaefags started this thread, he just wanted to humiliate someone.  i doubt he had muons in mind.

that said, muons are 'sort of like' stand-in electrons.  i haven't seen one recently.  have you?

ilikeflags

that giratina999 broad is sick dude.  like sick totally.

the 999 is blowing my mind

I love how an 8th grader with a year ( a whole YEAR!) of science class under his belt is absolutely sure he knows what he's talking about when it comes to "space".

if you don't know what a muon is, you're the babbler.  not exactly clear that you understand it, even in the most primitive sense.

more to the point, if you inadvertantly or (more culpably) join in with the lynch mob led by a supposed (self-proclaimed) 40-yr old teacher, ...., have you any idea what this thread is really aimed at?

Humor, perhaps

giratina999

go back up to the top ivan and have a look!  you're not even paying for this site and you're in the gang, you're ilikeflowers' Scrappy to his Scooby, telling him and her what they can and cannot post.....its just plain bullying.

ivandh

LOL

That is just classic

Beester

muons, isn't that someone who is really dumb?  oh wait that's different.  Should have paid closer attention in 8th grade.. :)
