the other way around bruv.

"hey man please resign bro just resign" have you tried playing better moves that win faster instead?

Sometimes when I am completely winning and they have no counterplay I ask them nicely and it saves me a few minutes rather than playing on

bro, do you really think I've asked people to resign.

AGC-Gambit_YT

not even a 100 would do that

trewphiobsfgd

Its rude to stall, and also against the rules of this site.

Personally I find it much more satisfying winning by checkmate than resignation and when I encounter those never resign people I make sure to take all pieces and make as many queens as possible before ending the game.

What does age have to do with anything? Also I literally just ask them once because sometimes they don't realize they are lost so they keep mindlessly playing and then when I ask they look at the position and realize, so they resign and save us both a few minutes. If they don't want to resign I will respect that and play on as normal

If they stall, its rude.

If they continue playing without stalling, then its your fault for telling them to resign when they have the desire not to.

Hey guys what do you think about people not resigning in hopeless situations?
Is it rude for me to ask them to resign? I understand if there's like 1 minute on the clock but have had several people now try to stall out and stale mate when I have 3 minutes or more left. I didn't say anything in chat this game but I have to confess I was a little bad mannered with my final moves as you can see.

Yes it would be rude to ask them to resign. Also, you should be careful when having fun like that at the end, you don't want to have too much fun and trigger the 50 move rule.

Yeah the same thing came to me during the game. I was more worried about three fold repetition lol.

Somewhat similar thing actually happened (3 repetition). Opponent was trying to flag me, but accidentally triggered repetition (I had under 3 seconds left).

WishfuI

Its generally rude, but below 1500 some people will still always play incase you stalemate

some person mouseslipped and they expected me not to take. After I took, they then said "I don't play with people who accept mouseslips" and then they stalled. I told them I would report and they abandoned the game. Talk about bad sportsmanship.

that NM is cooked

Resign immediately the moment you blunder your queen or feel the slightest bit of frustration in a game.

AGC-Gambit_YT

ok that is the most negative piece of advice, (and ur wrong)

WongEthanLY

But at the same time also prevents opponents from rudely asking you to resign

Snowchlobe

34 i would be resigning whenever someone plays 1. d4 if i resigned whenever i was frustrated grin.png

Npczyk
I only resign if I’m getting swept across the board or I make a series of bad moves which will inevitably lead me to a loss.
LOSTATCHESS

as a lowlife player - under 500 i resign when my goal for the game looks like it can't be meet - like losing you queen in first10 moves blundering a couple moves in a row etc etc and my goal which is just to get to 30 moves per game can't be meet or i am boxed in the corner by superiour play

aeramo

Not resigning is not rude. There's no such thing as a hopeless situation, especially for low-rated players who always resign. If you've never played an end game, you wouldn't even know how to checkmate.

Npczyk

This is why I don't like to resign. I was playing black. White had a (+9) material advantage and blundered leading to a quick checkmate. I also won a couple games after bc they resigned quickly.
