Is it worth it to get chessbase mega base

I am thinking about getting the mega base, I am finally thinking about improving my opening, and teaching my kid in the future. Is it worth getting?

For me personally, no. If you're not sure, I'd suggest downloading the free database SCID vs PC from Sourceforge, Stockfish 7 for analysis, and games from This Week In Chess. This will give you a decent database, a very strong engine, and over 500,000 recent games.

If you find you need more than that, then Chessbase is the way to go.

Thanks for the link. The large game collection I had been pointing people toward previously disappeared a while ago.

Only masters need the big database because it's mainly used for deep opening study (to move 20 or so).

Sometimes I get things I don't need. Ain't life funny?
