For me personally, no. If you're not sure, I'd suggest downloading the free database SCID vs PC from Sourceforge, Stockfish 7 for analysis, and games from This Week In Chess. This will give you a decent database, a very strong engine, and over 500,000 recent games.
If you find you need more than that, then Chessbase is the way to go.
