Is Magnus too Prideful?

So first off I want to say I am a huge Magnus fan. He (imo) is the best chess player to ever play the game and may remain the best at least for an extremely long time. However….. I feel like Magnus’ ego might be getting a bit high? 😬 I will prob get hate for saying this but I just feel like I need to address this and see if I am the only one who feels this way. I feel like a lot of times he is speaking in interviews he is always slightly too prideful. Like even today for example (02/08/26, same day as the speed chess world championship) after his win in the postgame interview the only thing he said to the crowd was basically, “I want you guys to know it’s ok to cheer for the favorite, not just the underdog”. Which like I would understand if he was getting booed or something but he was being equally cheered for (if not even more) compared to Alireza. Just felt kinda awkward almost. Didn’t thank the crowd for the support, didn’t even say thanks for coming out. It was just that. Plus, aside from today, I know he has a bad history with losing (slamming boards, pushing down camera men, etc). In true honesty, I HOPE I am the only one with these vibes, because I am a Magnus fan! Just I need to see if there are other people with these vibes or if it is just me

I dunno if his ego is getting far too high, but he is being buoyed by hubris a little bit, though. I guess being #1 is getting to his head.

Sounded funny to the bunny. Maybe it's just you, and the other guy ...

Yes Carlsen IS often arrogant. He is multiple times world champion so he has some excuse for it. This is nothing new. Kasparov was arrogant too, Kramnik went completely insane, about Fischer better not to speak. Anand was an exception proving the rule. You have to consider yourself if you want to be his fan at all cost. I am not.

To be best at something usually requires a LOT of self confidence and a fairly driven personality. It isn't a very big step from that to Pride and Arrogance.

Magnus is a great chess player but as a sportsman he is terrible this happens when you let success control you and unable to handle defeat graciously imo The Indian Gms will take over his title
