Is my jump in rating unprecedented?

Maybe when he was 6

Logic is backwards. It's much harder for a gm to improve because they already know almost everything. On the other hand a simple change in opening or learning to castle or something can bring you from 800 to 1100.

6, 76 age is just a number.

And look at him now. Champion of the world.

Well that is a fact

In one month, my rating (rapid) went from somewhere around 500 (I know, I'm terrible) to a max of 1050, just two days ago. (Now I'm rated 1022). It's true. Check my history.

If you really want to feel big headed about it, your rating jumped 37%.  A 2500 GM would have to increase to 3425 to match your achievement!

I know right?

You're now up against the "law of diminishing returns."  A 293 increase is only 27%.  You'll have to work harder.

This is Chess not Economics.

woton

You're right.  That's what's so amazing about the ldr.  It 's an economics concept that is applicable to many things.

Sorry I didn't mean to be rude. You might be new to the site. So just an FYI there is an "Off-topic" forum on the site. There you can discuss non-related chess topic such as Economics, etc. Thanks for your input though.

Vlad you are world class.

I don't even feel worthy posting in your thread

Yes, you are Worldclass, Matt

What's off topic?  You have to put in more effort to go from 1100 to 1400 than you did to go from 800 to 1100 (ratings rounded off).

You were talking about economics before. Some law of diminishing returns, that's what I was referring to. No problem though. I just like to stay on topic in my threads. I've had people go off-topic in my threads before and it just derails the whole thing. I had this one guy comparing classical music to chess once believe it or not.

This thread is funny but Some of these replies are hilarious!!
I think at your rate of progress you will be rated 4000 in about a year and a half especially if u stop leaving your queen en prise in the first 10 moves or so...Carlson watch out

I don't believe that - that's ridiculous.
