This is ridiculous. Yes, we all understand that its a tremendous rating increase, but I am not good enough yet to challenge any of these players. Is this possibly a good forecast of what will happen in my career, sure. Is it reality as of now, no.  So please stop spreading misinformation. You made up those quotes, the people who you quoted never said that. If you want to participate in intellectual chess discussion, be my guest, if you're gonna post nonsense, please keep it to yourself. Have a nice day.

Oh you didn't know they said those quotes?? Of course they did, so as you can see you are an even bigger celebrity than you thought!!!!!

Did you know that ESPN will release a 5 hour documentary about this unprecedented jump in rating you had?

Man, you are being very humble. But really you are a genius, I don't know why did you put that your FIDE ELO is only 2883. It is obviously over 3000, and at this pace you will reach 4000 before the end of the year! Isn't that amazing??

Funny how you are fooling everybody with your 900 tactics rating. Hahahaha you have a great sense of humor. In reality we know that you can easily find the solution to any tactic in less than 5 seconds.

The FIDO ELO I posted is not reality, I just put it there because that's what I've set as my goal. I'm not fooling anybody with the tactics rating because that's what it actually is. I don't know why you're making such a fuss out of this. Yes, I've done something most beginners don't accomplish, but I never claimed I was a genius or anything. Your hyperbolic sarcasm is rude to say the least. Please try to have some respect for the beautiful game of chess, and the forums.

The beauty of all this is you forced your nephew to play chess, yet you know nothing about f-5....!! bravvo. mabye i should seek a lesson from you, that way ill stop playing with my wacky experiments on blitz. after 10 lessons from you i bet ill p3ak at 2900 and loose 293 rating points when i replay absurd pawnmoves in the opening like you do, weakening your own keysquares. youll definatly achieve life master in 2months at that rate...... kudos to vladumb ir.

Rumor has it that Carlsen is considering retirement rather than having to face this guy next year.

Wow, hilarious. Bravo.  I'm here just trying to improve my game, and have a serious chess discussion, and there you are making sarcastic remarks to offend. Please go post in off-topic if you're just here to troll.

My apologies, Vlad. I assumed that your post was meant to be ironic. I do not think you were being a troll because the premise was so absurd, and I thought that I was just rolling with the humor.

Then, I must tell you that your goal is absolutely unattainable, especially given that you have already said that you are age is 25. Not only will you never enter the world's top 10, you have no chance at all of becoming a Grandmaster.

Imagine one of your friends your own age who has no experience coming to you and saying that the want to be on the Olympic gymnastics team. It could not happen.

Recently, I  have experienced an incredible jump in my blitz rating.

I was rated 782 on December 5th, and today I am rated 1075. That is a rating increase of 293 points.

I was so impressed with this achievement that I began to analyze how impressive it is. I was of the opinion that my increase from 782 to 1075 (293 points), is equally as impressive as a GM going from 2500 to 2793 (Also 293 points). But then I got thinking, my rating jump is arguably more impressive since I am a beginner. It is easier for a GM to improve because he is already an expert.

How impressive is my rating jump in reality, and how does it compare to a GM jumping in rating by the same amount?

Thank you for your input in advance.

You must continue chess. As you say, as improvement gets easier the higher level you are, we'll have a chess wizard in no time. Even calculating linear you'll be among the worlds best by summer.

Since improvement gets easier and easier, your level will grow soon in an exponential speed. You'll be competing with unheard skills by the end of June just whizzing past any records done by man or computer.

dont worry jimmy, he'll become a solid lifemaster in notime.. especially without any knowledge of f-5.

he said he forced his nephew to play chess.

I'm not here to have discussions with trolls. Like I said before, I'm here to improve my game and engage in serious chess discussion. Please go to off-topic if you have nothing intellectual, or productive to add to the discussions. Have a nice day.

Vlad you said you have achieved something most beginners don't accomplish that is a lie most beginners experience a jump like this to start with.
BronsteinPawn

Congratulations.

Not in this short period of time. Improvement is one thing, but to do it so quickly is another. The timespan in which I did it is impressive, not the improvement itself.

BronsteinPawn

I agree with Vladimir, the arguments he has provided in this intelectual discussion are strong enough to suggest that his rating gains over the last month have been amazing and unprecedented. It just fills my heart with joy to see such talented human beings.

Breaking news!

Vlad has broken the 1100 barrier!

OP, do you attribute your astronomical rating gains to the film Pawn Sacrifice with Tobey Maguire, with which you have become enamoured?

Well, I attribute it to study and hard work. Tobey Maguire was just an inspiration.

If we are talking about ELO ratings (or about ratings derived from the ELO formula) then you should bear in mind that:

"The maximum possible adjustment per game, called the K-factor, was set at K = 16 for masters and K = 32 for weaker players." - in Dr. Elo's original formula.

FIDE uses a three-part K-factor of 40 / 20 / 10, with players rated over 2300 using K=10.

This means that a low-rated player (who has never had a published rating over 2300) will see four times the rating adjustment for the same win/loss record as a high-rated player would. In effect, high ratings are less sensitive to up-or-down changes than low ratings.

VladimirHerceg91

Is it time for me to summarize the  consensus?

IpswichMatt

Absolutely Vlad, let's see your summing-up post - always enjoy reading those. See if you can top the Toby Maguire one, that was the best so far IMO

Sum up! Sum up!
