Is our gut usually right?

Ok, this thread isn't to call out any one particular indivual, but rather to ask the chess.com community a question about if and when they feel that a player is using assistance: When we feel it in our gut that our opponent is using assistance, is this intuition usually, or at least sometimes correct? Lately, I have really gone to a more "no excuses" route after losing games, which is a work in progress still, and therefore I now usually blame my weak play when I lose, but I still get the feeling quite a bit, of course. Losing sux, and that feeling I believe is when our ego gets in the way to possibly cloud our judgement. What is your take?
