Is the Steam version of Fritz 15 the same as the version from Chessbase

Fritz 15 on Steam has abysmal reviews, so I was wondering if there's a difference between the version on Steam and what Chessbase provides. I currently have 13 and enjoy it for the GUI (using SF, Komodo, and rybka for engines), and wanted to see if it's worth upgrading to 15 for analysis and playing the engine. Also, if I get the disc version, does it require the disc to remain in the drive while in use (my laptop has no DVD drive so requires an external drive to install, leaving it attached is an annoyance)?

Thanks,

Joe
