Okay, I know I'm probably opening Pandora's box with this one, but here goes...

So this game (which I played horribly in) was a draw by insuffient material. That's how the rules go, I know the rules... But theorhetically, I could have mated him. Why does it require enought material to force mate? Seems counter intutivie. Consider the following:

Should there be somekind of rule change? I mean I guess it's best... I feel like there is a better way, floating out in space...

but i thought you can't mate with king and knight vs. king
