Is there a way to disable draw offers in live games?

hi, I’ve had two games yesterday where my opponent kept offering a draw 20 plus times when they were in a lost position. And the problem is the draw offer goes over my time limit so I have no idea how long I’ve got left. If there is no way to disable draw offers then there is a big loophole in system where certain players will exploit.

You're really pissed about this aren't you? Didn't you make a thread about this yesterday?

I’ve done nothing wrong and I’m treated like a criminal. Well suppose that chess.com for you

There is supposed to be a way to decline further draw offers. That may only be on the website; I don't play enough Live so I haven't seen it yet.

There is. When they offer you a draw, there is an option to disable future draw offers for that game. I am talking about the desktop version, I don't know whether the same applies to the app.

Don’t suppose anyone knows how to do it? I’ve already asked chess.com and they still haven’t got back to me. Suppose they are only interested in making money and not helping people out. I’m really not surprised 3 of my friends have left chess.com this year.

Support tickets can take up to a couple of days to get answered.

Its been nearly two days now! But I will give it till tomorrow. My subscription is up for renewal next month. It’s looking likely I will be looking for a new chess website. Any suggestions?

You don't have to manually decline each draw offer, you know? Once you make the next move, it automatically vanishes.

I did start to ignore the draw offers, but after every move I made he would ping up another draw offer. And the draw offers kept going over my time limit so I had no idea how long I had left on my time until the final 10 seconds.

Traditionally, your suppose to offer a draw after you move, so the opponent can use their time to contemplate the draw, plus it's their move, so they also have initiative. I don't know if that rule is enforced in OTB, or if it's always been tradition and not a actual rule.

A think a Draw should only be allowed to be offered 1once per game, not every other move it is more distracting than anything else more so when its almost every move. My

Yes pls fix it. I lost a game because I got distracted by the draw offer. Make it every 5 moves or 2 offers per game.

Please, someone, add an option to disable future draw offers

Carwasher_Superdrunk

Draw offers are absolutely part of the game and should not be disabled. Typically, in OTB, ignoring the draw and making a move is the same as declining the draw. That said, draw offers should be handled within both the app and online in such a way as to have no impact on play, which I believe is currently the case.

Qrobbit

it shouldn't make that distracting sound at the very least. some people abuse it when they see their opponent is low on time.

If a draw offer prevents a player from seeing the clock, that's a major fault in the software which chess.com ought to address.

Rezi_Le_Rae

Stop allowing people to spam draw offers!!

Methamchessamine

there should be a way to permanently disable draw offers, i believe lichess has this feature
