No human is rated 3000. Just sayin'.
If there was a human rated 3000, then it's theoretically possible for a 100 rated to win, but the Earth would probably get destroyed by a meteor or an atomic war before the chess upset happens.

again it'd be like a 1/1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. but theroticly, the 100 player can guess the right move each move, and if they did not know each others rating, i'd assume the 3000 player would resign fairly early.
I would say that the upset would CAUSE the Earth to be destroyed by a meteor or an atomic war RIGHT AWAY.
100 player gets a slight advantage in the opening: a dull thunder sounds far away
100 player consolidates his central control, creates a wing pawn weakness to press later: unrelated geologists at various countries report slightly increased seismic activity
100 player makes a couple of correct exchanges and presses the weakness more earnestly: spontaneous riots break out in various major cities on Earth, Governments are overthrown.
100 player creates a diversion on the other wing and the 3000 player sacrifices a pawn for insufficient counterplay: that would have soon caused the seas to start flooding practically every city on Earth, just before the core of the Earth spontaneously burst into a million shreds, leaving a cloud of red smoke and boulders between Venus and Mars - except that in that exact moment the rioters burst into the chess club and among other things, they upset the chess pieces and imprison the 3000 player. Calm is restored.
Every time a 100 rated player has played against a 3000 rated player, the 100 rated player has won. So the odds are 100% Also, this clearly demonstrates the inverse correlation between rating and skill.
If you gave 1 million monkeys canvases, paintbrushes and an infinite amount of time, one of them is bound to create a work of art. But, it wouldn't be on the level of Picasso so I'd say no way in hell.
the odds of the 3000 player winning are 99.99% but you could test this with a 2600 player and a 75 player.
Let's cut to the chase. Assume the 3000 is not a victim of a heart attack or struck by lightning etc. Is there a possibility? I say no. Others say anything is possible.
