Is there blindfold tournament chess?

I've seen blindfold simul's by GMs, but I wonder why I have never seen blindfold as just a normal variation of chess, like blitz. GM's play 1v1 blitz vs. each other, do they play blindfold 1v1s too? It seems like it would be a legitimate gamemode, and blindfold blitz would work just fine too. It also seems reasonable to say that if you call out an illegal move, you lose. This is like how if you run out of time in blitz, you lose.

If this isn't a novelty or there isn't some practicality issue I missed, can somebody give me links to videos of GMs doing this, or GM games that are blindfold 1v1s?

In addition, relating more directly to the thread title, why have I never heard of a blindfold tournament? There are blitz tournaments, why not blindfold tournaments too? Are they more obscure?

it exist al ready. the tournament look kind of funny. e.g Blindfold Chess World Cup in Bilbao

In blindfold chess, it's really hard to enforce "touch-move" violations.
