Is there such thing as "luck" in chess?

Just so you and I have an understanding, I will in no way hold it against you that he is on your side with the "chess is a sport" thing. That would not be very nice of me. He seems to be, how do I say this politely, in a league of his own. A very special league it seems.

Real people taking real actions in the real world is is what counts in the end and all the blather on all the websites on the internet is nothing in comparison.

No, Ziryab is in a league of *his* own...the "League of (contentious, pretentious old fool narcissists) Non-Distinguished Gentlemen"... :tdown

Yes, look at all the Ukrainian flags on people's accounts here. That sure brought that eat to a quick close, didn't it.

Most of the people who call chess a sport do so for the wrong reasons. They are not on my side.

This is true,  because you only call chess a sport to be politically correct.  Because you coach and host events.   But the truth is you don't treat chess like a sport,  and don't understand what makes something a sport or sporting.

Because take this very thread topic for example.  Any game that has elements of luck in it,  is not a sport.  Yet you are here debating that chess is full of luck.  Even though your motive is really to disparage the lower rated players to satisfy your ego maniacal, conceited,   and twisted superiority complex,  you are still disqualifying chess from being a sport by making such comments.

That's because it isn't a sport, and not put into the category of sport.

Anyone in England learns football, cricket, rugby, and tennis.

He sent me a negative emoji. What a shame. This is the same guy mouthing off about how points need to be refuted, and then he reverts immediately into passive-aggressiveness.

We learn these sports in school.

Changing the standard speed in chess to blitz would be completely irrelevant to it's classification as a sport.

Exercised skill plays more of a roll in blitz then it does in classical.   But this is the wrong thread for this discussion.  The point is any game that has elements of luck is not a sport.   You probably saw my sizzla post and it attracted you here for reasons we both know why....

It's the basis of your entire nonsense and spam.

- chess is a sport

- promote speed chess

Its the reason for me being in these forums.  Correct.

You just got refuted in 2 minutes.

Why are people entertaining this chode?

Problem5826

He's confused at the refutation and sending emojis like a 10 year old girl again.

Quite straight forward. Speed chess will not get chess classified as a sport along with rugby, tennis, football, and cricket. Because it's not one.

Capeesh?

Lol.  A drive-by shooting...did somebody lose a blitz game?

can you explain which body and how it is in their self interest to do so?   I don't see the benefit except to the chess organizations requesting acceptance.  Those governing bodies are non profit.

Non-profit organizations still need to make money.

Why does the Olympic Committee still force women's beach volleyball players to wear thongs?  I mean, there's no incentive, because the hundreds of millions of dollars made each Olympics are just going to a non-profit organization, which by definition only uses money to do good deeds and pay expenses.  That any money could end up in the hands of people making ridiculously high salaries, or getting kickbacks from multi-million dollar contracts under the table...well, it's frankly unthinkable.

It is accepted as a sport by many national and international governing bodies my friend.   It might not be as physical as those sports,  but its still physically demanding.  Chess is the only sport I ever heard of a tournament being controversially called off because they thought one of the players was going to die from exhaustion.

If people played each other at Mario kart for 3 months it'd get called off for exhaustion too.

Again

- it's not a sport

- blitz isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to it's classification. I assure you

mario kart is a sport as well my friend.   But lets face it.  You are another troll account who doesn't even play games here,  Who wants to justify his disrespect for the game and the people that do.

Blitz is literally the future of chess.

You putting Mario kart on the same level as chess is offensive to the people who would argue that chess is a sport, no?

Only people interested in my games are chodes such as yourself.

Only to those with a superiority complex.   Which probably alot of them yes.   If there are elements of luck in the game though I wouldn't consider it a sport.  but I haven't looked that deeply at it.   I consider chess on chess.com another e-sport in general.

I'm just pointing out how suspect you are and what your likely motives are.  I constantly want to point to the fact,  that people like you,  are the majority of people arguing with me in these forums for obvious reasons.  And I want to use you as an example for what is wrong with the internet in general for all the kids watching.   People like you simply don't count and should not be taken seriously.   I"m only here to counter your narrative on a public forum for their benefit.  Because you don't matter to me either.

Salty boy loses the argument ^

Chess isn't a sport, unless you consider Mario kart a sport.

Blitz is irrelevant, and even Optimissed will tell you about English school.

Regards games, stopped playing here because people like yourself were fixated on my games.

Why do you deserve any value from me, whatsoever?

I consider e-sports sports,  yes indeed.

People like me were fixated on your games?   Why would that scare you?  Suspect.    I've heard that same argument fropm every troll on here, including btickler and mpaetz.     I find that excuse totally fake.  You could just block people,  ignore them.   But this shows you have no pride in your account,  don't care enough about the game or site to even play here,   and are simply here to troll people and for no other reason.   It means nothing you say is sincere or should be taken seriously because you don't even care about yourself.

So it is extremely ironic that you cried yourself right out of the game and call me the salty one.  And its ironic you ask what value I am to you,   when you replied to me first,  and I explained the value you provide to me.

And its not luck that its mostly troll accounts who don't play games here trolling me.   Its natural.

Much better than you at this game despite much less time and effort.

Again, why do you deserve to look at my games?

Ask me politely, and I'll consider it.
