Is there such thing as "luck" in chess?

It's hard to say. It could be because gaming usually refers to gambling, and luck often times plays a part in gambling. It also refers to video games, so not sure what the relevance is there. I don't see gaming associated with chess, but who knows, people like to make things up all the time.

I don't know why you keep saying gaming either. It's normally a term for gambling, but it also refers to video games. Now maybe you believe chess is a gambling game, where chance and luck are significant factors, I don't know. Take the Nevada Gaming Control board for example. Not really any mention of chess, but LOTS of references to gambling. Where luck and chance play a big part.

The reason you can't believe it is because I didn't ask. It's just that gaming usually refers to gambling. People do gamble at chess, but typically gaming refers to games of chance. Or luck. 

No, the gaming commission does not make the rules for certain games or sports. Sometimes you say things that are completely out of whack. Sometimes it's amusing, sometimes it's sad. 

For example college basketball is a big deal for gamblers. But the gaming commission does not participate in the rules for basketball. 

Gaming commissions make the rules for horse racing?? Do you even at least think about what you are saying before you type it? I would think horse racing organizations might make the rules for horse racing, not a gambling commission. Seems like that might be a bit of a conflict of interest.

I don't have to play "gotcha". You are extremely determined to do it to yourself. From gambling commissions making the rules for sports, to thinking I asked a question when I didn't, then not answering when I did, to believing there is no luck in chess. I know every day is a bad day for you when it comes to having this conversation, but today clearly is a worse than usual day. 

It's almost like those high school ball games where the score is 78-2.  When you are having a day like this I don't think it's right to make it worse. So, have a nice day.

Is this some kind of Land of Eagle and Donuts thing? Most people who stil use "game = hazard game or lottery" are referring to the laws and government which are rarely up-to-date with current lingo. Otherwise, gaming and gamers are people playing games, often video games, and not gamblers.

Because chess is a game of skill, unlike, say, darts, auto racing, and skeet.
