It doesnt matter if the knight is pinned, the knight still guards the c4 square, so your king cant go there (or capture the protected rook)

A solid way to think of it is this: Chess is turn-based. The knight is pinned to the king, so moving it would allow the black King to be captured. However, you cannot take with your King on c4 because if the knight goes to take it, your rook it looking angrily at the black King... But suddenly it has no commander (King) and you lose.
I was playing white against the Windows 7 Chess Titans program. I tried to capture the rook on C4 with my king. I thought that this would be a legal move since the knight is pinned. However, the program wouldn't let me make the move. Is there a problem with the program or was I really trying to make an illegal move?
