Is this kibitzing?

So I went to a tournament and this guy kept forgetting to press his clock and I tried not to look at the clock but then the guy next to me kept telling him to press the clock when he forgot to press it. I didn't want to tell on the td because I will look like a rude person. Is this kibitzing?

I think of kibitzing as unsolicited advice related to the moves or the position and not to technical issues.

It is however interference and could have been reported.

Yes it certainly was outside interference, you should have reported it.

Kibitzing is commenting on the position.

Actually, you would think yes, but the answer is actually no.

And btw don't ask me why. I don't know how the answer is no.

It's incorrect to remind a player to press their clock. You could have reported this. The player would be warned at first, and if it continues there would be penalties.

If you want to remind your opponent, that's fine of course, as long as you're not distracting them or other games around you (best is to never talk to your opponent unless it's offering draws and resigning and such) but someone else reminding your opponent is definitely not ok.
