Is this suspicious or am I just rubbish at chess?

I recently played someone with a rating of 209 and he beat me with an accuracy of 94.5% but all his/her previous games against much weaker players (c. 200) are around 40-45% accuracy. I realise I could just have played rubbish, I usually do, but I get suspicious when someone is suddenly playing like an engine.

No they are not a cheater

I think it's sus. 94.5 accuracy from a 200 rated player wouldn't be very natural if the game didn't end in like 5 moves

I watched his next game and he won with an accuracy of 99.1

That 94.5% game was pretty darn impressive from someone rated around 250.

I have reported him. Last game in the tournament and he's beaten a 999 rated player with 97% accuracy.

I just watched his last game. He's definitely cheating!

Looks like he first started cheating when playing you lol. A bit unlucky that

Yes, I noticed that happy.png

Beat a 1005 player with 99%? Yep, that's not good. I'd post the game, but I don't think I can name another member specifically and accuse them of cheating.

No, I think all one can do is report it and leave it to chess.com to deal with it; ask Hans Moke Neiman about people accusing him of cheating happy.png

You’re just terrible at chess. Yes it’s true.

Yeah this is either an engine or a super-GM. No 200 in existence would even consider playing like he did.

Lol, I've known that for a long time; says one 800 rated player to another tongue

Avatar of Becca_Baxter

I have had points returned to me in the past where chess.com has banned someone for 'unfair play'. I've no idea who they were as they don't tell you why or who was cheating, or when.

Avatar of basixTheSwexiest
If you have to ask An entire community about a cheater instead of taking the -9 Elo idk how to help you.
Avatar of Becca_Baxter

It's not the points, it's the principle of the matter. I'm trying to get better by playing games against people, if I want to play games against a computer, I can do that, I don't need someone else to use one against me. Cheaters are like sports drugs users or some other scum of the earth, if you can't win fairly, why even bother playing; it's pathetic.

And it wasn't 9 points, it was 19 and when you only have a rating of 850 ish, that's a lot.

Avatar of basixTheSwexiest
Maybe it’s time you use an engine. If improving rating is the goal.
Avatar of Becca_Baxter

Improving rating IS the goal, and I do play against an engine to learn, but I'm not going to use an engine to cheat my way to a higher rating; what's the point of that?!

Avatar of basixTheSwexiest
A higher rating of course. Most people complain about cheaters and losing points when they could be doing the same. Crazy isn’t it?
