slow / online chess can be 'saved' by automatic vacation or something like that, not 100% sure how it works but the timeout on those games is "soft". As for the clock, its within a few seconds accuracy, that is not the issue.
Issues with game time
Is there a way to deal with the people who the moment they are in trouble suddenly lose connection? I do not do that to others, and I am dismayed that my time is wasted by these types of players. I suppose they think that for some reason they won't lose, that I will quit. There must be a way to block having to play them again. Is there?

No. Its legal in chess to just sit there not moving for as long as you have the time. There is no artifical stupidity that can determine if a player is actually thinking or just letting the clock run for spite.
Time increments are a good solution --- game in 1 min, add 10 seconds after each move for example. After the opening most players have 3-5 min on the clock, and that is when people tend to mess up and lose the game, is about 5-10 moves out of the opening. Can't drag those types of game out.

Home>Account>Privacy and you can block people there. Blocked players will not be matched up with you in Live Chess.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, although I still feel a bit miffed at what happened. To be more specific, my oponent had at one point 6 minutes left and I waited for at least another two minutes if not more. Then I looked at the daily puzzle which must have taken another four minutes. When I went back to the game, 3 minutes was showing, which had to be wrong. I waited a bit more and still it was showing 3 minutes.
I even did a refresh, only to see 'a few minutes left'. I then loged out of the forum and loged back in minutes later only to discover that the oponent had made a move. Yet I am convinced; I was looking at my clock, that much more than 6 minutes had expired by this time.
Hope this is the right forum for this. I am 101% certain that a game should have expired due to the other player running out of time and therefore I should have won the game, yet after reloging, I find that my oponent has made a move and so the game is still in progress. I'm just wondering how accurate is the clock on this forum.
