I mainly prefer playing on a board since when playing on the screen. Since when playing on the screen, even when playing for fun you cannot reverse your moves after being submitted. :P
Its easier to play ON the board than off....

True true. But what about the touch-move rule? Btw, i wont b seeingbu tommorrow ulti. Going to orang asli.

I think you can if the game is unrated and you select to allow take-backs.

Ohh.... never knew that. But also by playing on a screen you can like totally like analize EVERY move. you can't do that with the board. there is no analize link

@kleelof -- You can do that?? O.o
@Max-is -- Not entirely true, especially if it's live Chess. And I somehow prefer analyzing the position in my mind, so I still prefer OTB play.

And by the way, something I hate about OTB play is that the spectators may interrupt you by playing with your pieces. (I always reach such situation at school where the other students watching the game (not tournament game) would move a piece to a horrible position for fun. )

GuessWhoIAm: Yes you can. When starting a new game, change the game from Rated to Takeback (not Unrated). If you like, we can play a take back game.

When I'm playing against those absolute chess beginners at school, most of the time my friends watching the game give me stupid suggestions. They often move the pieces here and there too. You can't do that Online.

Totally. just there I was playing with a friend and his sister kept on giving him rediculous ideas..... I won.

Online chess makes my eyes bug out, and I have terrible vision as it is. And yes, the 2-D is freaky to me.

I play much better in a real board, simply because I just can't take online chess seriously. I never put any real effort in it, I just move pieces around as a pasttime and maybe to try to get some pattern recognition.
I don't even do it on purpose...it's just that I can't see online chess like anything other than a videogame.

lol, My parents also count chess.com as a computer game... so when I get punished I can't make my moves! I try to take TMs seriously but other games I tend to not really observe as well as my board.
In my 7 years of playing chess on a board and 5 years of playing vs a computer and 6 months with chess.com, I've found that although my game ON the board has improved considerably, my game on the screen has not. I've always found that apart from the fact that playing ON a board gives you the 3-D look and the ability to move stuff with your fingers, playing on a screen hurts your eyes in bulet chess AND as my dad says "The flat pieces TOTALLY freak me out" Playing with out a mouse during live chess also hurts. So is it easier to play on a board or a screen? I personally find it easier to play on a board. But there are many pros in chess.com that have a 2000+ rating and havn't played on a board more than 5 times! So I'd really like to hear other people's views.
Have a good day!
