Linares 1991, at the time, one of the strongest tournaments that had ever been played. Ivanchuk, the winner of the event, beat both Karpov and Kasparov, but his victory over Kasparov was the most devastating defeat the Russian World Champion has ever suffered... In this video, which lasts over 30 minutes, I'll show you how it happened, and you`ll learn a few things about the Rossolino variation in the Sicilian Defence...

yes, Ivanchuck is awesome talent, remember though... Kasparov did have a large winning record against him...

Yes, that cannot be denied.

Ivanchuk  +6  -15  =27  versus Kasparov.

Great video. Around 8.35 into the video there is a beautiful tactic I will remember the pattern of.

AussieRookie: indeed, but that doesn't change the fact that this was an amazing game by Ivanchuk and that Kasparov never got beaten in such a crushing fashion before.

2Late4Work: Development vs lack of + King in the center.

that record v Kasparov is impressive,  better than most...

There could be others, but...

Boris Gulko vs Kasparov: +3, -1, =4

Tigran Petrosian vs Kasparov: +2, -2, =1

Ribli never lost a game against him =5

I believe Kramnik also had an even score against him (not counting rapid or blitz games).

Am guessing Bulko and Petrosian... he played them very young, kramnik get right under his skin for sure. am thinking that Ivanchuck had equal talent as Kaspy, but mind not as strong, or maybe not train as hard... does anybody know if they ever play together for Soviet Union?

Gulko: Kasparov lost to him at 18, 19 and 27, so definitely not a kid! (not to mention that he was higher rated in the 3 games that he lost!!).

Against Petrosian, he was 18 + 19, also higher rated...
