I’ve amassed a long list of cowards who have avoided rematches, how about you?

I think it is different irl

I understand your point; however, from the standpoint of a rematch they’re not that different.

I'm compiling a long list of losers who scream and cry about a rematch whenever they lose. The OP is on it

I’m gonna tell your uncle Lasker on you…

Anything but that! He's so strict!

All right then…

Rematch is a nice option, if both players enjoyed the first game and have the time to play another game. But there can be a million reasons, why one player declines it.

I am mainly playing 3+0 and there are a lot of "blitz specialists", who just play for the flag from the start and didn´t even resign, when they blunder a piece and the opponent has a full minute left. I mean, it is their right to do so, but I don´t enjoy those games very much. It gets quite bizarre, when those guys start to insult you, if you declined the rematch challenge- which happenend to me more than once.

To play a mini-match against an opponent is IMHO the most fun, when both sides are similar in strength and speed and both sides respect each other enough, that it is more about the chess than about winning at all costs. But maybe I am old fashioned.

There is no requirement for a rematch and there is no etiquette requiring such: calling such people
"cowards" is inaccurate, unnecessary and hurtful, so I am locking this thread.
