java problem/computer chess

I am a new member and have played the computer several times over the past couple weeks with no problem. Today I can't see the chess board in the computer game mode and am directed to download java. Java informs me that I currently have the latest Java. I am using the latest version of chrome. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

Try clearing your cache.  That BTW is the sum total of my knowledge. Laughing

Try another browser if the problem persists.

Thanks for your help!

I cleared the browser cache/Java cache/reinstalled Java and that seems to have worked.

You're welcome.  Apparently because this is a browser based application, it is very important to keep the cache clear or it simply ceases to function correctly.  I too found out the hard way...Embarassed

How did he beat you in 10 moves if he disconnected?

Maybe he disables chat to avoid getting rants from over zealous crazies... hey, you wouldn't know anyone like that would you?  Someone who, for example, would be so upset over a loss that they post in multiple month old topics over nothing?

uneasyrider,

I've never disconnected intentionally and what would be the point: it's rude, you waste other people's time, you lose anyway and then annoy people to boot. In your case, I've only played you once, and as wafflemaster has so kindly mentioned, beat you in 10 moves.

I disconnect the chat to avoid distractions while playing.

how about explaining why you disconnect and disable the chat right when you start. don't ask people to help you with questions when you are a filthy player who brings the site down.
