I'm surprised chess.com hasn't posted what's been in the news everywhere.  One of this site's stars John Urschel has decided to up and retire from American football!  This comes on the heels of a study that shows overwhelming numbers of retirees from the sport showing signs of CTE.  Retiring also gives him a chance to focus on his math postdoc studies.  It seems like chess will now be his primary sport.  That's a wise choice for anyone as it's one of the few sports with zero concussion risk (at least until people start to bash each other over the head with jumbo lawn-set pieces).

You would think banging your head would make your brain tough and strong and resilient and smart but that’s actually not the case. It took millions of dollars and nearly 20 years of research to confirm this.
