Hi everyone, just started chess 1 week ago, i am really interested and bought a bunch of games for the ds about chess and a couple books. I can finally beat clubhouse games chess on hard almost every time now and was wondering what my rating would be if i was playing on here.

ratings can't be thought of like this. there is no correlation between fide, uscf, chess.com, and whatever else ratings. at least, if there is a correlation, no one has found it yet.

Only one way to find out, play a few games and see where you end up :)

Start playing games and you will know pretty soon. Play everybody (weak players and strong players) and your rating here will settle into where it "should" be. If you play enough games, you will have a "realistic" rating here on C.c

If you just started chess 1 week ago, your true strength is likely between 600-850.  Since you start at a default rating of 1200, set your "seek" to rating below 1200 (you cant set a maximum opponent rating lower then your current rating) and call your game "Under 1000 please".  You will likely lose most of your initial games, but thats ok, thats how you learn.

Another good thing to do would be to get a free account at chesstempo.com and do rated tactics problems.

Live chess: about 200-400 pts below your real rating.

CC: +/- 100pts to your real rating.

That's how I've pictured it, and find it quite accurate. Not 100% by any means, but a real good measure. As our focus and awareness varies from game to game, day to day, there's always some flux.
