IMBacon… I' m just saying he beat Stockfish and I don't know what to make out of it that's why I came here. He won't get rich playing chess and will probably end up a bummer if he continues to play that's why I want to know too if I will push him on this thing or not.

Im gonna play along...

Lets see...how can you add some credence to this claim?

1. Post the game.

2. Post the parameters that stockfish was set at.

3. Have your son play someone here.

4. Show his USCF rating graph.  Its pretty amazing that he went from a 500 player to being a 3600 player.  <eye roll>

5. Have him play a game, and then do some analysis showing his high level of understanding.

I'm not here to ask to prove if can do it. I'm just here to ask if he can reach playing in big tournaments if he will just do online games.

I know you have the picture of the game as your profile pic, and since it’s blurry, could you share it on the forum?

Youre saying your son is rated 800 points higher than the world champion.  And you dont think you need to show any kind of proof?

No, you only get invites to the big tournaments if you play, you can just enter an big open tournament ofcourse. If he is really the next prodigy he will do well and get lots of attention.

He can also join one of the twitch tournaments here on chess.com, beat nakamura and get the attention.  Then the invites to big tournaments follow.

I suggest you post the pics on this forum of your son beating Stockfish, otherwise @IMBacon will continue insisting you have personalized disorders.

It's incredibly selfish to push your hobbies and interests on your children, especially something as - I don't know if this is the right word but "foolish" as chess. Leave them find their own paths. Show them chess and if they take to it great, if not then don't "push" them.

If you have a 9 year old kid that is rated 500, and now they are beating a 3600 engine?  Yea...you push them into chess.  Mental side effects be darned!

Avatar of ergo_ergo

uhohspag… I commented about that a while ago... i'm not pushing. i'm asking if I need to do more if he has this talent with chess as I don't want to waste money going to tournaments if this is just an ordinary thing to beat stockfish. and kids even if they have talent, they get distracted with some other stuff, they spend more time with social media rather than doing nerdy stuff like chess
