king capturing queen

I am fairly new to chess.  I am wondering why I was not allowed to move my king over one square to the next square where the opponent's queen was.  I was in check.  By capturing the queen I would not be in check by any other piece.

I'd have to see the board position, but sometimes it's just a glitch with the computer.
