Black counterattacks against those central pawns. White shouldn't be able to maintain them, but he hopes to translate his crumbling center into an attack on Black's king.

My question, is why does black allow the 4 pawns attack to happen. Wouldn't white gain complete control of the center. What does black have, to make up for that control.
