I usually face e4 as a beginner but had a a game or two with d4 , I tried in my last game the king's indian for the first time but he was a much higher opponent , but lost due to some stupid decisions , which is better for a positional beginner ?

Honestly the King's Indian is extraordinarily difficult to play below even like 1600-1700 because you need a fairly high understanding of tactics, pawn breaks, and piece maneuvering to just not have a worse cramped position. I would recommend just playing 1... d5 and just bring the pieces out, no need to study any openings for now in my opinion.
