Well done! Ladder mate is one of the most common checkmate patterns and is definitely a good one to know. It occurs very frequently, particularly at beginner levels.
often, players who aren’t confident in other checkmates will promote two pawns in an endgame to allow them to use ladder mate, rather than (for instance) queen and king mate.
Another common checkmate you should learn is called “back-rank mate”, as at lower ratings the opportunity for this happens very often, and spotting them will instantly increase your elo. Give it a google!
