Yes, lag can be a problem. That's why I prefer bullet chess in person! :D
Lag and it's benefactor in bullet game
In person, i remember playing few games. It's not interesting. Too much piece fall. Online bullet is better, no fallen pieces to adjust.
Losing must be tough on your ego. You ran away so quickly.
Dude,it's network problem, sitting in US with good connection really improves your performance but your skill is rusty
yes ... lag benefits the person with better connection (less lag)... and i am also very annoyed by people accusing of cheating due to my bad network, which is actually helping them and not me.
I strongly susppect when you are a free user you have lag and when you are one of the very honest person who pay taxes to chess.com the lag disapear!!!!
I can PROMISE you that is not the case. That is first hand experience.
It also wouldn't make good business sense. You want to make the play as fluid as possible, that's the glue that would prompt signing up.
Lag stinks, but there are a lot of reasons it could be occurring, and putting the work on Chess.com to figure it out for you would be daunting. There are just so many things it could be. Too many services, viruses, bad drivers (mouse / video, etc.), bad network card settings, a bad hop between you and chess.com, etc.
I mean no kidding, I could write a paper on all the reasons you could lag, but which have nothing to do with Chess.com
I'm trying resolve this issue right now and I'm thinking it could be my drivers. Look for an application called LatencyMon and start there. It will tell you if you have issues. Could be your ata drivers, usb drivers, I have seen it all.
The most recent was my fan was kicking in when the temp when up, so it was cycle lagging like made, but latency mon showed it as my drivers. I fixed the fan, and my latency dropped big time (not network latency, rather computer latency). But there is still something horribly wrong with chess.com and using my mouse. The mouse is lagging around even though I have a good network connection.
Trial and error, that's all I can say. Good luck though, I understand how frustrating it is. For me, it's the difference between 1700-1850 realm, vs 1400-1500 realm. So painful. And for get playing india, impossible!
If I figure out my issue, I will report back.
With my experiences in bullet with damn bad network connection, I feel that lag actually helps the person with the better network connection.
But the annoying part is when players x,y,z accuse me of winning by lag which indeed is not true. Because of lag, it actually help them to win the game occassionally.
