if you play OTB you can use your laptop as a chess clock rather than buying a serparate expensive clock.

eg. free software like this

For informal games, I guess so. For rated tournament games, I don't think so.

You can use your iphone, ipod and smartphone to, but of course isnt any of it nearly as good as a real clock, and I hate using it.
