Lasers in chess

I'll get back to you after I gas all my roach-baboons with acnes with my new can of ZyKlown B...
[my sides still hurt from laughing at that guy!]
Thanks for the link! I did find a girl I dated and the guy who beat me up in high school, but, alas, no chess to speak of. There must be some innovative genius out there somewhere thinking about this very problem; if only I knew how to reach him.

Using lasers with chess is far too advanced a topic given today's technology. The current state-of-the-art is only able to use lasers with tic-tac-toe.

Anyone smart enough to solve lasers with chess will probably win a Nobel prize or similar award from Intel...

I'm not sure that I'm not walking into a joke I haven't spotted, but if its a serious question, check out the boardgame "Khet"
It's not quite "chess with lazers" but its a very chess-like game in which you move mirrored pieces around a board with the aim being to deflect a lazer beam around the board into the enemy "king". Its a pretty good game and surprised me in how similar to chess it felt when I played it.

I was going to suggest Khet, too. It is a neat game that will sharpen you strategy skills. For information go to:

like, i wanna help, but i'm like a blonde neuron, so like, you know, wait.........okay, i forgot how to type, but the manual said something about fingers, so i tried that, and it like worked again, sooooooo anyhoo, what was the question again, oh right, chess with lakers, so like i dunno, kobe can speak italyese, so maybe he's heard of chess, but that's just a guess, dunno about the rest, so like who'd invest a lot of money in it *cough cough* gawd.
I had sooo much fun in that thread!

I saw something like this once in TV Show "The Big Bang Theory".
American engineers are consumed with the challenge of adding lasers to chess. Of course there is the hoax that NASA put a laser on a chessboard in the sixties, but it has been proven that it was faked on a checkers board.

As far as incorporating sharks and lasers into chess, I look forward to a deviation on the variation...using blindfolds. Shouldn't there be alcohol involved too?

Actually the variation I saw in the Show was not about lasers in the board.
They had a lot of security laser lines and the player had to cross the room without touching them. The chess board is on the other side and it is only alowed to make a move if they successfully cross the room.
It is like chessboxing, as in both the variation is not in the board but in a physical activity outside it.

Yes, so far we have only been able to get lasers within a close distance to a chess game. But to actually put a laser on a chess game involves many unproven technologies.

I was wondering if anyone could point me to a site that discusses laser use in a chess variant. If someone ever created such a variant I would be sure to buy it and maybe even invest in the company.
Please, no trolling or humorless mods will shut down the thread. Just serious replies on chess variants that employ lasers, and/or sharks.
Thanks in anticipation of your helpful feedback.
I have been unable to locate such a site up to now. I'm sure it is only a matter of time until I track it down, but it's also a matter of coming up with the right name to look under. Still, I couldn't help wondering if a taser couldn't be incorporated into the laser to give the game a little extra umph!
