I kind of feel morally obliged to accept in these cases. Also, I offer remis after my opponent makes a stupid mistake that would lose them their queen. One opponent actually thanked me for that. Most simply accept. Are they secretly laughing at me? I have no way of knowing.
To me, a victory based on a stupid mistake has more to do with pure luck than skill. Isn’t chess, unlike backgammon for example, supposed to be a skill based game with no element of luck?
Why do people offer remise in a clearly lost game? Why add the extra humiliation? Are the points that important? Does it ever get accepted?
