league rapid simuls again

People are still doing rapid simuls in league. A cursory glance would show that. Are they gonna keep their points? How will this be handled? Because if some people are doing it and there's nothing to stop them, then everyone should be allowed to do it.

It hasn't been stated yet but they are being reported and should be.  The technical solution is still in progress as well.

Thank you for your quick reply on this but it doesn't exactly answer my question. I know they're being reported. What will happen? Will they lose their points? Have they been notified?

The point is if there's any chance they will keep their points we need to know. Because if they will we're on an unequal playing field.

I'm just not sensing any urgency. And to me anyway it just seems like a matter of some urgency.

I know at least one player that got some kind of communication for doing it, but don't know much more than that. The reason I know that is I was asked a question about it by the member.

That said, I expect there will be more movement on it this week but can't guarantee it or what it exactly will be.

Well, why wouldn't it have made sense going into this week to not just notify everyone with a message of high importance that rapid simuls wouldn't count this week so don't do them? Wouldn't that have solved the issue? I don't understand. Maybe it's more complex than I realize.

But you're a chess player so you see my point. If they end up keeping their points then okay, I'm not out to get them. I just wanna be on the same playing field. This isn't rocket science.

It seems to me that until you do know what you'll do rapid simul play should be allowed by everyone and opened up to basic members.

It seems only a few people realize what's going on at the moment. They may think it would be bad PR to let everyone know that simuls were a way to cheat, and they let it go on for half the competition, and that they're arbitrarily stopping it, but only kind of stopping it, but promising to stop it for real at some point.

Pretty much everyone has a reason to be upset. People who weren't using simuls or couldn't use simuls would be upset for obvious reasons. People who used it will worry whether they can stop and remain competitive since surely others will use it. People who stop using it will be upset if they perceive their competitors are still using it. etc.

Also "please don't cheat but we have no real way of stopping you" is a pretty lame message. Better to wait until they can automatically detect simuls... otherwise it may only increase the number of people using simuls lol.

lol exactly. I just feel like they're not saying certain things to cover themselves legally even. But then just say that to me. We're covering ourselves legally. Then I'll get it and stop asking.

If you check https://www.chess.com/leagues, you can see what's allowed and what isn't. To answer your question, people that do simuls could have their trophy count reset, or their account being closed. Hope this helps happy.png

i mean someone's poitns got literally deleted

I mean... the cleaner solution would have been to just allow simuls. I don't why that was a problem to begin with... it's as if they don't realize what this competition entails... for example without simuls possibly the best way is to play bullet arena at a hyperbullet pace.

Of course they say this isn't allowed because you can't lower your rating either... which is just silly. For starters, playing for 80+ hours a week for multiple weeks in a row is going to lower people's rating so it's completely unenforceable.

If they wanted to reward the most active members they could have done it covertly... but covertly isn't marketable. If they didn't want people to bend the rules then they shouldn't have offered a cash prize, but that's also not as marketable.

Anyway, best solution a few weeks ago was just to allow simuls.

Best solution 1 year ago was to work all this out in advance...

They could... but also maybe not... meaning people who don't use simuls are at a disadvantage.

Exactly what is wrong with the staff. They're acting like npcs. They follow the logic. They understand what's being said and that it makes sense.

I can get 100 trophies at the most in an hour I have seen a simul player get 500 trophies in 40 minutes.

Suspend the leagues!

Avatar of StephenGehly

Literally the number one player in elite is doing the rapid simuls openly.  I know staff knows.

Finally, I see more people disturbed by the absurdity that is currently ongoing.

I have reported @vanyakuba, @Mr_AGM, @Christian_Kiernan, @MolecularChemist, and @Mayo_Nieghs, a few of the people who continue to simul. If this is naming and shaming I apologize.

I suspect these individuals simply do not know or they will pretend to not know simuling and/or intentionally playing people leagues below your rating was banned if and when staff decides to act.
