Yeah, I noticed they only kicked out the untitled Indian guy...

I'm sure they made sure someone who may not understand English well understood the rules... I mean, they've made the rules so clear to all of us...

He might not have been kicked out for simuling; there is another untitled account that lost 63/63 Rapid games to him. The account that lost those games got closed for fair play violation.

To be honest, I trust chess.com is being fair about it, and so something like that would have been going on... but mid competition rule changes create uncertainty like this.

Well of the 7 people I could find playing simuls in elite league and sent messages to yesterday, 4 have replied back, 3 of whom stated they were entirely clueless about the new league rules. 1 other said they knew about the rules recently, but basically, given that other players still continued to simul without repercussion, they were just following suit so as to not have a disadvantage (as per my understanding). I really don't blame them either; Its not a risk I'm willing to take, but its rather difficult to know which rules are official and able to be enforced. I know some people are really hoping chess.com staff/moderators take some manner of punitive action against those who continued to simul, but to me it seems wrong that someone be harshly punished for unknowingly breaking some arbitrary, fallacious, and obscure rule 😂

I'm expecting a trophy count reset, (holding off on playing games atm for that reason), or maybe a reset of all rapid points, but I hope no one got/gets kicked out of leagues solely for simuling.  😐

@MolecularChemist continue to simul. I've reported again but nothing thus far. Can't even ask them to stop because they only accept messages from friends.

This whole thing is a clown show.

they seem to be playing really low rated players compared to them, not in arenas

onlyC6

in my division there are two players who simul, too. one is mostly playing 300s in simuls. of course, i reported them, but nothing happened. is there anything else i could try to stop them?

The rapid simuls are seeming to pick back up, or if not simuls, people getting paired against 500-1000 points lower... not just from arenas either. A few people simul, without repercussion, and to keep up with them, some (sensibly) feel obligated to follow suit. Very tough to ascertain a system with some semblance of fairness anymore 🤔 Should we all just play simuls and get banned? 🙃 Any definitive answer to the penalty for simuls, and when it will be?

For now I've given up on getting to champion league this week. I just want to see how all this gets sorted out. Miscommunication ➡️ ignorance/confusion ➡️ misinterpretation as malice/selfishness ➡️ (atm, futile) retaliation...

It really has turned into quite the sociology experiment! I'm by no means just spectator in all this either; they got me running around in a circle too. But I did the research, and hamster wheels are actually harmful to guinea pigs who try to run on them, so that explains the pain...

We should all stand in solidarity by having everyone simul! They can't ban us all!!!!!

he played 27 rapid games at 20 minute each side in under one hour 26 wins and one draw for a total of 395 trophies.

Until someone crosses the picket line, that is. 😁

No matter what tho, I feel bad for someone... For those trying to win playing "fairly" in arenas, for those who played simuls without knowing it was banned and now fearing facing the same fate as simuls, those trying to keep up with simul-ers by doing the same, and the chess.com staff trying to figure out a solution (they're doing the best they can I'm sure, but finding a fair solution is probably near impossible for anyone at this point). I just wanted to help by informing some of the new rules and giving the benefit of the doubt... but all it takes is for 1 to cross the picket line and make 10x wage. The leagues are not laissez-faire, but so far pretty much bereft of a judiciary system 😭

I'm still optimistic the chess.com staff/moderators will find a good solution tho 🙂

Simul rule got player's cowering.

If you're serious, I'm down. It's the only way to have fairness is if we all do it. But actually my league has only one rapid simuler in the top 3 so I'm not too worried about it for myself. This best be fixed by champion week though.

StormCentre3

A total farce.
Game the system as best you can. even outright cheating and then try to “punish” abusers mid-way through?
And CC presents itself as representing a healthy chess environment, promoting itself as the best chess experience. In the meantime those who see through this marketing sham are playing real chess elsewhere.

So I was just reading the law on promotions and I came across this: It is illegal and/or a violation to change the official rules especially if you have already registered and bonded your promotion with the AG in the States of NY and/or FL.

I'm not sure if this applies or how it applies, but I really want to know specifically how this promotion is being handled legally, if at all. Did they just threw the thing together without consulting a lawyer? This whole thing is just a mess so my guess is no.
