Faster time controls are worth proportionally fewer trophies, so it's not about speed chess.
For accurately rated players, their win % will tend towards 50 so that's not a good measure. Also since you can manipulate this % by setting your seeks to be against lower rated players, it's not an objective measure in any case... you could do performance rating divided by actual rating, but again, accurately rated players will all tend towards the same value (in this case 1).
However you're right that it's just about grinding wins. People who play simultaneous games will be able to get the most trophies. I haven't tried it yet, but if you're able to enter multiple arena tournaments then that's probably the fastest way to get trophies.
This wont matter until the later leagues though, when people are going all out. To pass the lower ones all you'll have to do is play a few hours during the week.
Hey friends, this isn't a complaint -- just a suggestion. I love the addition of the chess leagues!
It's clearly built for variants of chess but especially those who play lightning/bullet chess all the time. Instead of giving out points just for wins, what if they had some sort of balanced formula of win percentage in the week, actual wins, and wins above/below your own ranking?
I feel like there has to be a lot better formula for determining league winners than just who wins the most lightning games by playing a lot of chess. Happy holidays!
