I have a question regarding the https://www.chess.com/leagues 

Do I need to play in Play chess or can I play in the old Live chess for the points to count?

Points count in all time formats.. extra points for tournament wins/draws.. just keep playing and try to get 200 trophy points a day

Old live chess doesn't count, at least, that was how it was in beta.

Custom times don't count for trophies. It has to be a time option available in the quick select options and at least 1|0

According to the help articles, yes. In practice, I'm not so sure.
