learned sad true about my game

As I am trying to improve my game, I decided to study some opening theory.

My actual opening game is based, on experience of what other players have done to me, and also in my personal findigs on those positions.

So I decided to start learning the theory relate to my "style" on openings, this is to research what I belive is my most stronger opening, and see what the theory have to aport to it and this is my sad finding.

The official name of my opening style is "Fried Liver Atack", and it is by all means considered a joke opening that only low level players try...

Now my options are to "master" my style and keep playing this, or to just leave this on the past and learn something better.

May this be learning to other players, that don't want to learn opening theory from the begining, that if they build up opening game from the experience of playing with low level players (As my self and as I did), going to end up developing some silly game that will not take you over the 1500s.

Fried Liver Attack is an attacj & not opening.  You need to know what is an opening & what is an attack.  You can't do Fried Liver Attack if our opponent choses sicilian Defence.  You can only do the attack if your opponent allows you.  Choose a Opening or Defence & tried it out & see.  You alss need to know why it is move this way & not that way.  That is very essential.

If you are using tht said Attack, then The opening that you are using is Bishop's opening

?  I'm not quite sure what you mean.  The Fried Liver Attack is a variation of the Italian opening, but it should still be categorized as an opening. I think you're getting confused because the term "Attack" is used in the name of the opening.  It would be like saying that the King's Gambit isn't an opening, etc.

Back on topic, I think the Fried Liver is still somewhat viable in blitz games where black's exposed king will at least give white some time advantage against an unprepared opponent.  If you're going to be playing with longer time controls though, you should probably adopt a new opening repertoire for white.  Maybe experiment with other Italian game stuff, like Evans Gambit, etc.

What I meant was that the Fried Liver Attack (FLA) is a trick(ace card) hereby you give away a piece for being active & puts your opponent in disarray.  However, using that does not guarantee victory if your opponents knows what to move correctly.

SO you see, FLA is not an opening but Italian Game is. FLA is just a variation in the Italian game (Opening) in the Two Knight Defence.  If it works for you then continue to use,  But you need to learn other opening as to be flexible.  If you don't understand what I am trying to say about FLA, then leave it.  Its not so important anyway.

BTW I use Polish Opening & its very effective in blitz or even 15 minute live game.
