So I play 1. e4 and have played it all my life, but I really like the look of 1. d4 openings like the queens gambit and catalan. I play openings like the caro kann and queens gambit declined as black which I love to get in games, and overlapping pawn structures (Carlsbad structure in exchange caro and QGD). Should I stick with e4 or try to learn d4? Which one do you prefer? Let me know please!

You may have noticed that most of the top players play both 1.e4 and 1.d4, and you can too! Try in, study a little, then try it again. What have you got to lose?

I get what you’re saying! I have also started to try and play 1. d4 more as a 1. e4 player to get the book achievements, I only need 6 more!
