I hope you'll be back as shuttlechess93 someday.
leaving chess.com to take a break- goodbye!

I know your type... bet u a million buck you will be back sooner than i can say shazam. Its like Coke lets face it you are addicted!

@OP: You are more than welcome to take a break from chess to focus on other pursuits, but you really have no need to close your account. You can simply let it be dormant for a year or two, or however long you wish your break to be. If you close your account, you will lose your game archive, blog posts, and other contributions, which is simply unnecessary.
In fact, I believe the staff would prefer that you leave your account open and dormant, rather than to close it and open a new one later. One FAQ states that Chess.com frowns on players "starting over." (The context of the question is for those who have a rough start on their first several games, but I believe the principle still applies.)
If you are worried about some temptation to continue playing Live Chess, I still opine that closing your account is too drastic a measure. Some people would need to exercise some resolve and determination not to log in for a while, but nothing more.
I don't mean to imply that closing your account would be a tragedy, but it just isn't necessary, in my opinion. The decision is up to you.

I'll leave my account open. Except for my remaining correspondence games, I'll be inactive. Once they are finished, I will be... : )
thanks,

Hey all,
I have decided to take a long break because I have found that I am spending too much time on chess. Specifically live chess and blitz - funny how much time can pass in 5 games of blitz (at 5 min time controls that's half an hour!)
It seems that chess.com isn't making a "self ban" from live chess anytime soon, so I guess I'll just have to implement it myself.
I'll be closing my account soon.
Thank you for being such a great community, and creating such great memories for me. Just unfortunately, I have to stop and reassess, reassess.
