Lichees vs Chess.com
Here’s my list as someone who’s played extensively on both, from the users perspective:
Chesscom:
+ Larger playerbase
+ Rating system is what most people refer to
+ Good lesson library (semi-paywalled)
+ I like their forums more
+ Better anti cheat (doesn’t matter as there way way more fair play violators on cc than on lichess so you’ll still face them way more often here)
+ Better club system
Cons:
- Tons of paywalled content (that’s available for free and better in other places
- Worse ui (personal prefrence)
- Slower speed and abysmal premoves
- More fair play violators
- Ruder playerbase, I’ve been told to kms multiple times, cussed out, insulted etc.
Lichess:
++++ Study function, I love this feature so much, I created my entire 700+ variation repertoire using this
+ Everything is free, chesscom is slowly removing features
+ Player database showing user games, amazing for opening analysis and game review afterwards
+ Faster and smoother playing experience
+ Better analysis (database > heavily broken ai comments)
+ Prefer the ui (personal preference)
+ Better rating system, (lichess uses glicko 2 and chesscom uses glicko 1, lichess literally just uses the improved version)
+ Better playerbase, less fair play violators and kinder people
+ Better tournaments
Cons:
- Smaller playerbase
- ”Worse” anti cheat(you don’t notice this in practice as you maybe get a cheater once in a couple hundred games(at 2300+).
I have to make this clear.
Chess.com:
+) Many contents, many users, best UI, accurate elo(rating)
-) One analysis a day, short on puzzles(barely anything is free), slow reaction speed
Lichess.org:
+) Absolutely Free, fast reaction speed, free unlimited puzzles
-) Bad UI, unlimited analysis but worse compared to chess.com, inaccurate elo(rating), many hackers(no hack detector)
Any objections are welcomed.
