LOL! I almost choked on my OJ reading that
Life-time diamond membership option

Yes I think he was serious, and he should use this symbol for life time members.
In no way should he use that!
T first you said they should use it. The reason I don't think it's a good deal is because there isn't enough Chess Mentor to last near that long, and that was the main reason I got a diamond membership.
I think Chess Mentor courses need to be made more often and w/o duplicate lessons! More diamond features!
If I had the money, I'd consider $599 for platinum membership!

not really a diamond type of member.
also not able to afford that :)
a 250-300 dolar platinum for lifetime might get me, but I can't be sure I'll still be on chess.com after I graduate

actually, now that I think of it, I actually probably wouldn't
I'm not a math guy, but I am a marketing guy. So I can appreciate the math and the consideration of looking at an equation to consider correct pricing. However, I think the math should serve as a guideline for pricing not a hard and fast rule.
From a marketing perspective it makes sense to make these types of "Amazing Deal" offers from time to time, because often people will take advantage if you put a window of opportunity on the offer. Maybe every holiday season for 7 days the offer will be available.
I think a really smart idea concerning ads on chess.com would be to open up the market to members, and have whatever they spend on ads at chess.com go toward membership costs. More of a facebook strategy toward ads instead of a myspace.
Make the community your ad buyers instead of big agencies. I think Google and Facebook have proved this is a great model.
Heck you'd probably have more non-paying customers buy ads just because it would get them marketing and go toward a membership that they would normally be un-inclined to purchase.
Just an idea.
