Will there be a discount for High-Risk members?
I can submit my cholesterol count....

$598 for high risk members
I don't think they're allowed to do that :)

erik should elaborate more on his offer. The best thing he can do for us is make it an option on Chess.com/membership.html.

Is there enough chess mentor lessons to make it worth the cost?

For you, yes. (Sorry that I had to be the one to tell you.)
I believe Erik puts some amount your hard-earned membership fees towards paying his FM/IM/GM mercenaries to produce more Chess Mentor lessons on a regular basis. IM Sam Shankland has recently contributed a new course called "Shockers" and John Grefe (sp?) has contributed one on pawn play.

The courses are geared to people with a much higher rating than me.

Not all of them. I think the courses devoted to opening and tactics can appeal to players of all levels. I know some people don't care for the openings courses but I love them (at least, the ones for the openings I play). My KID play has improved as a result of Thomas Wolski's course on it. If there are course pertaining to openings that you like to play they're well worth it

Don't forget video lessons and computer analysis!
$499
Lifetime membership
1 Free Chess University course included (use within first 12 months)
Offer expires December 31, 2010
...as My Cousin Vinny would say, "that's what we call a counter-offer"
Pretty good one too imho. Hits that under $499 price point for maximum consumer penetration.
How much for half a life-time?
That's a good question! And what if you're pardoned by the governor?
It would be hard to do though because over one-in-four players on this site are teenagers = probably not interested in lifetime membership, and if they are they get huge savings :D

Though your data is not correct your comment is true-it's hard to do.
